We have opportunities for learning, service, innovation, and travel.
Lunch & Learn Events - Conversations worth having
When you join us for an event in the middle of your day, we will make it worth your time! We host lunch & learns in the GEB a few times per semester, and we invite speakers that you will want to hear. Of course there will be free food, but also, there will be topics and questions that you will want to interact with. We even want to hear from you about topics and directions that you'd be interested to see at these gatherings. Join us.
Center of excellence in faith and health
Connect to the Center of Excellence in Faith and Health at Methodist Healthcare. Opportunities include classes through the Congregational Health Network Academy. These happen once a week in the evenings, and topics range from hospital visitation skills to family violence prevention to mental health first aid. The Center of Excellence also hosts an annual Ethics symposium, many speakers and events, and is a certified center for Clinical Pastoral Education. We'd love to connect you.
education, service, & travel
Ask about Serving The Underserved, a certificate course that happens once a year and speaks to the strategies, challenges, and skills for working in underserved communities. Serve and experience in our local community by volunteering at the Manna House Foot Clinic, "The Way" Friday night service of recovery, and Project Transformation. Serve globally through opportunities with the United Methodist Volunteers in Mission (see below), as well as trips to Haiti and Kenya.
Click here to check out the blog of the medical missions teams associated with the United Methodist Volunteers In Mission. They are always looking for participants of trips and missions. We'd love to help you engage with these opportunities.
